The clients had already secured outline planning permission for a site for a replacement dwelling and came to us to design the house. The brief was for a retirement dwelling purpose built for their needs that will allow them to see out their years in the comfort of the landscape they call home. It quickly became apparent however that building in the approved location would deprive them of some of the essential characteristics that have made living on Crevenagh Road so delightful for them, namely the relationship with the Camowen River and the views of the Sperrins. We successfully challenged the outline approval position and full planning was granted in 2013. The completed design took inspiration from the context of the site adjacent to the Camowen. River.
